Managing Distractions & Protecting Your Focus: Real-Life Strategies That Work
Feel like you’re constantly busy but never really getting ahead?
Like your to-do list is growing but your energy’s in pieces?
If you’re a purpose-driven woman trying to build your business, raise your kids, and not lose your mind in the process—girl, I see you.
In this week’s YouTube video, I break down exactly how I manage distractions and protect my focus as a single mom, business coach, and faith-fueled warrior on a mission. And right here on the blog? We’re going deeper—with tools, resources, and real-life examples that’ll help you reclaim your peace, prioritize what matters, and finally get stuff done without the overwhelm.

Title: “How to Protect Your Focus and Stop Getting Distracted (Even With a Busy Life!)”
💥 Why Distractions Are Sabotaging Your Success (and How to Stop Them)
Here’s the truth no one tells you:
You’re not lazy. You’re just overstimulated, overwhelmed, and under-supported.
You’ve got tabs open, dinner on the stove, DMs waiting for a reply, and a dream that feels so far away because you can’t even find 20 quiet minutes to think straight.
Distractions don’t just steal your time.
They steal your clarity, creativity, confidence, and calling.
But the good news? You can take your power back—starting today.
🧠 My 3-Part Framework to Stay Focused (Even When Life is Loud)
1. Shift Your Environment to Match Your Intentions
Your space sets the tone for your focus.
Here’s what you can do right now:
- Create a tiny “focus zone” (light a candle, grab your journal, block out 30 minutes)
- Turn off all notifications. Seriously. The world won’t end.
- Use visual cues like headphones, a “Do Not Disturb” sign, or even a fun mug to remind everyone: Mama’s in CEO mode 🧠
🛠 Bonus Tool:
Download my Printable Time Audit to see where your distractions are hiding (and how to reclaim those power pockets).
➡️ Grab it inside the Empower Collective Facebook group in the Guides tab or click the cover photo from your desktop.
2. Train Your Brain With Intentional Focus Blocks
Your brain is trainable—and it loves structure.
Try this:
- Start with a Power Hour—just 60 mins of focused work on ONE thing
- Take 5-10 minute breaks and reward yourself (tea, stretch, scroll—guilt-free!)
- Leave white space in your schedule. Margin = mental peace.
🔥 Need more structure?

3. Set Boundaries that Protect Your Peace
If you don’t guard your energy, someone else will use it up.
Here’s what I recommend:
- Say no (without guilt) to things that don’t align
- Batch your DMs, calls, or client work so you’re not constantly context-switching
- Start your day with intention: prayer, journaling, or 5 mins of silence goes a long way
💬 Pro Tip:
Start small. Set ONE boundary this week. Just one. Then watch how your energy shifts.
