Single Mom Burnout Recovery & Building Peaceful Income Without Destroying Yourself
There was a season of my life where I honestly believed the answer to financial stress was simply…
work harder.
More hours.
More hustle.
More exhaustion.
More saying yes.
More surviving.
And for a while?
I truly thought that made me “strong.”
But behind the scenes, my life was quietly falling apart.
I was working 60+ hours and STILL struggling financially.
Within 18 months, I had to move FIVE times because I couldn’t keep up with rent and bills consistently. That level of instability does something to you emotionally. I became exhausted in ways sleep couldn’t fix.
The stress affected everything:
my nervous system,
my mental health,
my body,
my confidence,
my peace.
I lost a massive amount of weight from stress and depression.
And honestly?
I don’t think people talk enough about what long-term survival mode actually does to women.
Especially single moms.
Because many of us are carrying:
✔ financial pressure
✔ emotional labor
✔ parenting stress
✔ work responsibilities
✔ healing trauma
✔ mental overload
✔ household management
✔ caregiving
✔ everybody else’s emotions
…all while trying to “stay positive” and somehow build a better future.
And then social media tells us:
wake up earlier,
post more content,
start 14 income streams,
grind harder,
be more disciplined.
Warrior…
I didn’t need more discipline.
I needed rest.
I needed healing.
I needed support.
I needed calmer systems.
I needed peace.
And honestly?
I think a lot of women do too.
The Real Reason So Many Women Feel “Lazy”
I need you to hear this clearly:
You are probably not lazy.
You are overloaded.
There’s a huge difference.
When your nervous system has been stuck in stress mode for years, even simple tasks can start feeling overwhelming.
That’s why so many women are:
- emotionally exhausted
- forgetting things constantly
- struggling with consistency
- unable to focus
- feeling numb
- feeling unmotivated
- starting projects but unable to finish them
Not because they’re weak.
Because they’re burnt out.
I know what it feels like to sit there staring at your to-do list while your brain feels completely fried.
Meanwhile life keeps moving:
the laundry still needs done,
people still need things from you,
there’s still dinner to figure out,
church responsibilities,
band commitments,
work,
business,
emails,
mental load,
and somehow your coffee is reheated for the third time before noon 😅
That’s not laziness.
That’s nervous system overload.
The Turning Point That Changed Everything
One of the biggest turning points for me happened during lockdown.
For the first time in a long time, life slowed down enough for me to actually SEE how exhausted I truly was.
And honestly?
Dropping unhealthy relationships and dead weight in my life changed everything too.
I realized I had spent years carrying things emotionally that were draining the life out of me.
And when I finally started simplifying my life instead of constantly trying to survive it…
everything started shifting.
Not overnight.
Not perfectly.
But slowly.
Peacefully.
What Actually Helped Me Recover From Burnout
1. Multiple Income Streams — But SIMPLIFIED
I still fully believe in multiple income streams.
But here’s what I learned:
Too many chaotic income streams create more stress, not more freedom.
Now I focus on creating income streams that SUPPORT my life instead of consuming it.
That looks like:
- affiliate income
- digital products
- simple systems
- content that works long-term
- automation
- repurposing instead of constantly reinventing
Some of the tools and resources helping me simplify things include:
✨ AI Money Code — helping simplify content and business creation
✨ Time Savvy Lounge — better systems and workflows
✨ Amazon Finds — simple home, office, and organization tools that reduce mental load
✨ Pampered Chef — genuinely helping simplify cooking and meal stress
✨ Frequence — part of my wellness and recovery routine
None of these are about “doing more.”
They’re about creating support.
And honestly?
Support changes everything.
2. Nervous System Healing
This one was HUGE.
Because I realized my body had been stuck in survival mode for so long that rest actually felt uncomfortable.
Some women are so used to chaos that peace feels unfamiliar.
That was me.
I had to learn:
- rest is productive too
- slowing down is not failure
- peace is not laziness
- healing matters
- my worth is not tied to constant productivity
And healing your nervous system changes EVERYTHING:
your focus,
your patience,
your creativity,
your emotions,
your energy,
your confidence.
3. Building Rhythms Instead of Hustle
I stopped trying to build my business around fantasy productivity.
You know the version where:
✔ the house is spotless
✔ your energy is perfect
✔ nobody interrupts you
✔ you meal prep perfectly
✔ you wake up at 5am smiling 😅
Real life doesn’t work like that.
Especially for single moms.
Now I focus on rhythms:
- simpler workflows
- realistic schedules
- repurposing content
- batching when possible
- lower-pressure systems
- rest built INTO my life
And honestly?
My business became MORE sustainable once I stopped trying to force myself to function like a machine.
What I’d Tell The Version Of Me Who Was Barely Holding On
I’d tell her:
you are not failing.
You are tired.
I’d tell her:
your exhaustion does not make you weak.
I’d tell her:
peace matters too.
And I’d remind her that success is not worth sacrificing your health, joy, nervous system, or relationship with God.
Because I think women deserve businesses that support their lives.
Not businesses that destroy them.

You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to heal.
You are allowed to simplify your life.
And you do NOT have to destroy yourself to build a better future.
Maybe this next season isn’t about hustling harder.
Maybe it’s about healing deeper.
Re-emerge and rise, warrior 💜
