I Am Who I Am!

I have been churning around the idea of writing my own blog for quite some time now, a few years to say the least.  I even bought and set up hosting, and a blog website, over a year ago, but still never wrote anything.  But I’m not surprised, I do tend to sometimes be a bit of a procrastinator and in all honesty I’ve spent the last year rebuilding  my life (hence the blog title).  It’s time to finally do what I set out to do.  I want to share with you this journey called life and create a tribe of like minded people who wish to live a balanced life.

Life isn’t always easy though, sometimes it can be down right messy.  This is going to be a spot where we can share those trials, triumphs and the life hacks that get us through.  But first I should introduce myself, tell you a bit about who I am.  I was born and raised in small town Ontario.  An active kid who was involved in sports, arts, brownies, cadets.   I loved to be involved and be busy.  I’m still very much that person, having spent my adult years being a mom, entrepreneur, karate sensi, band member and Christian.     So let me break down for you some of the hats I currently wear.

               I am proud to be a member of a Scottish highland Pipes and Drums band called the Beinn Gorm Highlanders.   I originally played drums in my teens, while I was in Cadets.  My youngest son got interested in playing when he was 7 years old (he’s 13 now), and I got talked into joining  a year later.  We throughly enjoy being a part of the band, they are a great bunch of people to hang out with.  It is a teaching band, so anyone can join, even if you’ve never played before.  We have members of all ages and we have a lot of fun, doing community events.

 

SISTER IN CHRIST

My grandparents loved the Lord and they loved being active members in their church, I spent a lot of time in my childhood attending church with my grandparents.  I had a few years during my teens and college where going to Church wasn’t a high priority.  But after college, as I started my real life as a grown up, it always felt like something was missing.  My heart was lead back to the Lord, and after the birth of my sons, I made following Chirst a priority in my life.  I believe each person has free will the choose their own beliefs.  So don’t worry I won’t be trying to convert anyone, but I’m not going to hide my faith either.  As my about me page says, this blog is going to be honest and real with no BS.  So I won’t hide any part of who I am.

 

ENTREPRENEUR

As I mentioned before I like to be busy, but I was also raised to appreciate a hard days work.  All though highschool and college, I worked either in restaurants or retail.  A few years after college, while on maternity leave (from my retail job) with my first son, I took online courses for business management and started my first business, Chimera Imaging.  It started off as a graphic design company, but I revamped what that business was over the years.

Shortly there after, while on my second maternity leave (from my retail job), I took more online courses in bookkeeping and book publishing. In 2011, I fell in love with Pampered Chef and decided I needed to add that to my busy lifestyle.  I left working retail in late 2013 to open my second company Authentic Contracting in 2014.

 

SINGLE MOM

               However the hat I wear most proudly is that of “MOM”, and for the most part of the last 17 years, I have done that alone.  A few note worthy relationships along the way, but mostly on my own.  My boys are in their teens, so we definitely have our moments.   Otherwise I wouldn’t trade them for the world, they are each their own individual young man.  Both smart, hardworking, caring and active like their mom.   They drive me up the wall on the best of days.  But I couldn’t ask for two better sons, I love spending time with them.  Lol I’m almost an expert in Marvel super heroes.

Well that’s a sneak peak into my life, and through this blog, we will discuss and share what it takes to follow the journey through life.   Everything from food, work and relationships, good days, bad days…all those in between days (There seems to be lots of those).  So come along with me on the journey.
